LONG COMPTON COMMUNITY FETE ASSOCIATION

CONSTITUTION

1.NAME

The name of the Association shall be Long Compton Community Fete Association or its abbreviated form ‘LCCFA’.

2. PURPOSES

The primary purpose of the fete is to promote and organise a community fete in 2022 with a view to celebrating the platinum jubilee of H.M Queen Elizabeth II and to give the opportunity to all groups and individuals to participate in the event. If the fete is a success, it would be the aim of LCFA to hold an annual summer fete for the residents of Long Compton. 

LCCFA shall also operate for the benefit of the residents of the parish of Long Compton and shall from time to time in the absolute discretion of the committee of LCFA make grants to further this objective.

3. MEMBERS AND FOUNDING MEMEBERS

Membership of LCCFA is open to all residents of the parish of Long Compton over the age of 16. The founding members of LCCFA shall be Alan McKelvey, Amanda Brennan and Roger Billins. There will be no charge or subscription for membership.

4. COMMITTEE

The first committee of LCCFA shall consist of the founding members. The first committee shall have the power to co-opt on the committee such persons as they shall consider to further the objects of LCCFA. The first committee shall stay in post until after the 2022 fete. There shall then be an annual general meeting of LCCFA which shall elect a new committee of no fewer than three and no more than six. The founder members shall be eligible to stand for re-election to the committee. The quorum of committee meetings shall be 2.

The Committee shall have the power to do the following:

  • raise money

  • open bank accounts

  • take out insurance

  • employ staff

  • organise events consistent with the Purposes

  • collaborate with other organisations within the parish of Long Compton

  • any other matters consistent with its purposes and good governance

5. ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING

The first committee of LCCFA shall call a general meeting within 28 days of the holding of the 2022 Fete to report the outcome of the fete to deliver the accounts of the fete and hold elections to the committee. In subsequent years, the annual general meeting shall be held no later than 13 months after the holding of the previous meeting and such meetings shall receive the annual accounts and elect the committee for the following year.

6. FINANCE

LCCFA shall at all times maintain a bank account at such UK bank as the committee shall in their absolute discretion determine. The committee shall ensure that all remittances are promptly paid into such account and shall use the account to further the purposes of LCFA and for no other purpose. 

7. THIS CONSTITUTION

This constitution has been adopted by the Founding Members at a meeting held by them. The constitution may be amended by a vote of two thirds of the members present and voting at a general meeting.

8. DISSOLUTION

LCCFA may be wound up at any time if agreed by two-thirds of those members present and voting at any general meeting. In the event of winding up the Committee shall distribute any cash held by LCCFA at that time to such organisations within the parish of Long Compton that share its purposes.
